Lea Simpson

Location: Lisbon, London and a few places in-between

Lea is one of Brink’s two co-founders and Director of a number of our programmes and funds. It’s her job to make sure that teams have what they need to deliver impact. From making sure our strategies are sound, to being the team’s champion as we work through the good bad and ugly together.

Lea has over 20 years experience working from Silicon Valley to Kathmandu on all things tech, innovation and supporting organisations and governments to get fit for the future. She has a degree in psychology and is a trained coach in a number of disciplines. Most of Lea’s experience is in the real world and comes from leading teams, raising capital, running funds and making hard things happen.

“When you say yes to this, what do you have to say no to?” - someone asked Lea during coach training in 2015. This question about her last job changed her life. It was obvious that she had to pack in her VC-backed, digital transformation consultancy and do what she’d been advising her big corporate clients to do: pivot. Without knowing what would come next, Lea took a leap into redirecting her time and talent into something that made a positive contribution to the world and its most wicked challenges. Brink is that thing.

Questions Lea is exploring in their work right now:

  • As Brink grows, how do we create the kind of context that makes it possible for every Brinkster to be their best and deliver career-defining work in their time with us?
  • What is the role of technology in easing the global learning crisis?
  • What is the role of frontier tech and aid money to solve big global challenges?
